JUNE 2019

June went too fast!  It was full of friends and trips for Scott and projects for Cheryl.

We keep busy each week with our local Young Single Adult Ward from Church.










Each Monday evening we do activities with them.  One week we did outdoor games like the Bocce teams Scott was on...


...or this human pretzel game he was tangled up in.

Scott had one trip to cover the Oakland Temple re-dedication and by "chance" met up with a former member of our ward, Tyler Skanchy while there.

We also got to attend Aryssa Hutchinson's sealing in the Provo City Center Temple.

For Scott's Birthday, we first met up with Breanna and Elliot to go to the new BUTTERFLY BIOSPHERE at Thanksgiving Point and spent about 1 1/2 hours there playing...

And really enjoying the hundreds of butterflies they had there.











We met up with Tyrel, who was visiting on business, for dinner at Costa Vida and enjoyed that a lot!











Scott's first trip this month was actually to Fortaleza Brazil for the temple dedication there.

Then as I mentioned, Scott went to Oakland for that temple to be rededicated after renovations.

June 17 we welcomed CLARA ROSE TAYLOR into the family!
She came a bit early, which took us by surprise, but weighed more than 7 pounds and was very healthy.

We see a little red hair here that reminds us of our Austin, and we hope it sticks around!

Mom and all her helpers, Mackenzie, Evan and Brooklyn all excited to meet baby Clara.

Our yard took up a lot of time this month...not that we were doing the actual labor for the most part, but in decisions and being around to tell the workers what we wanted with different projects etc.
This morning we went to a nursery and chose shrubs and trees...

And by that night, they were almost all planted!!
It was amazing!!

You can see here how the backyard was taking shape with defined edging and firepit area and now trees and shrubs.

 That Saturday we organized a help crew from our local ward and a couple YSA friends, to come help us fill up the garden boxed we placed on the west side of the house.  It was a lot of work covering that whole ground with landscape fabric, placing the boxes and then cutting away the fabric from inside. 
With help, filling the boxes and putting rocks all around only took an hour total.

We hosted a small Mission Reunion BBQ at our Stake Center pavilion.  It was good food and even better company.  They came over to visit at our house afterwards too.

Our sweet neighbors, the Barnes, took it upon themselves to clean up Braden's cool Eagle Project Neighborhood Entrance.  They repositioned all the landscape edging and also placed a solar light by the stone so you can see it at night!  It looks so good!

 We had fun with our yard workers.  I provided ice water and a bin of snacks each day that they were here, like 2 1/2 weeks.  One of them loves Disney!  He left us a MICKEY in the sand here...but has also hidden another one that is permanent somewhere in our landscaping that we have to find!  I think this is a grandchildren job!




So here is how the garden boxes look from the backyard looking forward.  There will be a metal arch on that cement pad by the stone, and grape trellis on each side of it.  The yard will be fenced so this is all pretty private as well.





Here is the little firepit area behind the garden in the back corner of the yard.  Our yard really ends just behind the trees there, not as lovely and big as this photo makes it look.

Our last weekend in June project...the pergola!
Braden and McKenna saved our lives in coming to help like 3 times!  And it turned out lovely!








Thought you would enjoy this plant that I am growing in a pot this summer...a gift from a preschool parent in May.

When it developed SPIKES on the top and bottom of the leaves I was really intrigued...thought it was a climbing pumpkin, but found out it is called...

 ...PUMPKIN ON A STICK and is really an ornamental eggplant.  That is trying to kill you!
The fruits do look like they are cool though.  You use them to decorate for Halloween and can dry them for arrangements.












Went with Dad and LeAnn to Wally Hutchinsons's funeral the end of the month too.
It was great to visit with all the kids!
