JUNE 2020

 HEY JUNE!  Where did  you go??
Does anybody else feel this way, like we sort of blurred all of March-June together?

Well, my Karl Foerster grass has grown super tall; so I know time has passed!
We will share some of our adventures this month.

We see some critters out on our walks, and this one was one we were not really happy to see.

Scott has our little foster bird eating from the palm of his hand.
If he is hungry enough, he will do it!

We drove a LONG way from home to get to this Wildlife Refuge SW of here, pretty much to the middle of nowhere!







But we did see some cool birds.  This is a NIGHT HERON.  We see them all the time by the lake near our home, but Scott got some good photos.

This is what the  heron looks like flying.  So pretty!

This is an American Avocet.  Really long bill.










This is a Caspian Tern (I think).  Another great shot of one before it dives into the water to catch small fish.








This is a Braden...bringing us yummy Bahama Bucks shaved ice to celebrate Scott's birthday!
We had a fun movie night in the backyard with some takeout Navajo Tacos and shave ice.
By the way, I highly recommend the movie we watched:
"Just Mercy."  Free on Amazon Prime this month I believe.

Speaking of mercy...we are trying to learn more about our friends of color and we found out about this peaceful rally held near BYU that our friend Stacey Harkey was speaking at.

 Breanna came down to join us and we had a really special evening.  It felt so right to be there with her and we all came away better educated and committed to help our brothers and sisters of color by "bearing one another's burdens that they may be light."

Here is a shot of Stacey talking.  He and all the speakers did a very good job of expressing their thoughts, frustration, anger and commitment to help US understand where they are coming from and what we can do to help.

Since we did not get to go to Mom's grave this Memorial Day, I went in June to place red geraniums and flags for the holiday coming up!

Scott and I both signed up to donate blood this month to try to also do our part to help out with the pandemic.
















Scott gave blood super speedy fast...and mine did not take much longer.  We were both pretty fast to fill our bags.

This was just one of those CUTE MOMENTS when you realize that you are sort of wearing something MATCHING.



Beehives and bees...

The kids gave me a bad time about going to IKEA for some student dishes...but the delivery was not until August so...we masked and went.  In and out in a little over an hour including the wait.

We are walking out by the lake a lot more now that our wetlands are really drying up close to home.

The views are spectacular and we have found that the south dike trail has about no one on it so it seems like our own private trail.

We go towards sunset and those are awesome too.

We had to go twice to try to figure out what bird that looked like a duck was sitting out in these spindly trees in the water.

This is what we saw.  Second time we went we were able to identify them as "double crested cormorants" 
They are pretty much there every night.



One night we took some friends out for a little walk and it was so windy and a little rainy...but the sky turned this amazing turquoise color with oranges and pinks.  Scott got this panorama to show how stunning it was.
